Willie Garry King, age 79, of Fayetteville, TN, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his residence. He was born on July 23, 1946, in Lincoln County, TN, to the late Willie B. King and Hazel Williams King.
He graduated from Flintville High School in 1964. After graduation, Willie worked at Hills Grocery Store on West College Street before entering the United States Army in 1965, where he served honorably until 1967. A proud Veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War with the 27th Infantry Regiment (“Wolfhounds”), earning numerous commendations, including the Purple Heart. When Amana Manufacturing came to Fayetteville in 1968, Willie began working there alongside his father around 1970. The facility later became Goodman Manufacturing, where Willie faithfully worked for 48 years before retiring in 2019. He also worked part-time at multiple local grocery stores and later spent many years at AutoZone. Willie was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
Willie loved his family deeply. He especially cherished spending time with his grandson, Ethan, fishing for hours with his son Brian, watching NASCAR, and attending races in Talladega. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching his only grandson play football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth King and Kelton King; mother-in-law, Lula Milliken; sister-in-law, Sandy Bradford; and brother-in-law, David Milliken.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherry Milliken King; sons, Michael King of Fayetteville and Brian King (LaTonya) of Gurley, AL; grandson, Ethan King; sisters, Charlotte Hillis (Garry), Glenice Edwards (Terry), and Darlene Clardy (Johnny), all of Vanntown; brother, Phillip King (Michele) of Vanntown; sister-in-law, Joyce Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Pastor Rickey Lee Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
