Leon “Sonny” Gault, Jr. was born to Leon, Sr. and Edna Morrow Gault on July 12, 1943 in Crystal Springs, Tennessee. The fourth of seven children, Sonny worked alongside his siblings on the family farm. His love for farming continued throughout his life in various forms, from Gault’s Dairy to his small family farm. He passed at his home Friday morning, November 3, 2023.

He graduated from Flintville High School in 1961 and served in the Army Reserves. He spent many years painting with the Moorehead boys and was a staple at the local farmer’s market. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Gault, Sr. & Edna Morrow Gault; Mothers-In-Law, Pauline Walden and Josephine Wolaver; and siblings, Ronald Wayne and Jodene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Venice Wolaver Gault; children, Lee (Tina) Gault, Al (Carla) Gault, Randle (Lisa) Wolaver, and Sheila (Max) Quick; siblings, Carolyn, Reba, Mary Alice, and Faye; grandchildren, Justin (Caroline) Gault, Boone Gault, Jessica (Eric) Dykes, Sevannah (Luke) Mullins, Makinsie (Forrest) Gifford, Alex (Hope) Gault, Kristen (Zack) Blackwell, Joe (Briley) Wolaver, Ty (Lisa) Quick, and Vada Jo Quick; great grandchildren, Abby Kate, Jack and Annie Jane Gault, Elias, Daniel, Reagan, Jubilee and John Dykes, Sadie, Jett and Brantley Mullins, Briggs Gifford, Mattie and Jensen Blackwell; bonus son, Tony (Sheryl) Campbell; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Sonny had a way of filling any room with laughter and bringing a smile to your face. Before you saw him, you would hear his infectious laugh. His laughter and joy were heard throughout the community at any local ball game, charity event, gospel singings, Crossroads Market, and any other social gathering he could find. He loved everyone he met, and he never met a stranger. Many will remember him as their favorite dance partner, and some will remember him as their biggest fan. Sonny served the Lord well and was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved Jesus, his family, and the Tennessee VOLS.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Graves and Rev. Cleo Moon officiating.
