Samuel “Sam” Ray Morris, age 82, of Fayetteville, TN, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Montgomery, West Virginia on November 26, 1942, son of the late Gruder Lowell Morris & Jennie Wood Morris Drake. Mr. Morris was a former Deputy Sheriff for Manatee County, Florida and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons: Terry Lee Morris and Michael Thomas Morris; and two sisters: Brenda Kay Hammrick and Wanda Carol Wilmoth.

Mr. Morris is survived by his wife: Deborah Hartwell Morris of Charleston, West Virginia; one daughter: Amber Morris Jones of Charleston, West Virginia; two sons: Samuel (Toueria) Morris, Jr. of Fayetteville, Tennessee and Donald (Carolyn) Morris of Edmond, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: Samuel (Britney) Morris III, Mallory Morris (Jason) Phillips, Stephen Kyle Morris, Chander Morris, Jacob Morris, Liam Morris, Parker Morris, Max Jones and Lydia Jones; five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Carter Hills Cemetery with Samuel Morris, Jr. officiating and Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge.
