Melba Ruth Fanning Hale, age 85, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Crestwood Medical Center. She was born on September 13, 1938, to the late Sant and Stella Fanning. Ruth was a native of Elora and a 1957 graduate of Flintville High School. She worked for Teledyne Brown and later retired from Adtran. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Fork Primitive Baptist Church.

Ruth married Harless Hale 45 years ago and from this union she gained three sons whom she loved very much. They, along with their children and children’s children, all rose up and called her blessed. She was a picture of faithfulness, kindness, and love that helped to shape their family for years. Her impact will be felt for generations. The Lord blessed her in life and has now certainly blessed her in death as she beholds the face of her beloved Savior free from sin, pain, and death.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Florence Head and one brother, Dwight Fanning.

Mrs. Hale is survived by her husband: Harless Hale of Huntsville, AL; sons: Max Curtis Hale (Nancy) of New Hope, AL, Dexter Arnold Hale (Kathy) of Huntsville, AL, and Darryl Gene Hale (Shelia) of Huntsville, AL; brother: John Earl Fanning (Patsy) of Elora, TN; grandchildren: Jennifer Jones, Jason Hale, Jennifer Penney, Jacob Hale, Jessica Christensen, Alicia Kelly, Anna Hale, Jennifer Pinkerton, and John Honea; 20 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; nieces: Lisa Bohler and Kathy Murray; and nephew: John Fanning.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 8, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in Miller Cemetery with Pastor Jacob Hale officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the Gallant – Riverview Funeral Home.

Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Melba Ruth Fanning Hale.
