Della Loretta Stewart, age 96, of Fayetteville, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at NHC Hendersonville, TN, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 18, 1929, in Lincoln County, TN, daughter of the late Walter Lawrence & Lora Mae Sawyers Tripp.
Loretta was a lifelong member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and a master seamstress. She enjoyed eating breakfast at Hardee’s for many years with her sister, Geraldine, before a day of shopping. Mrs. Stewart was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James Wilburn Stewart who passed away on May 23, 2001; sisters Estelle Jennings, Helen Sanders, Geraldine Howard; and brother Fearel Tripp.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her daughters Nita (John) Minukas of Lafayette, TN and Sherry (Tom) Dickerson of Caldwell, TX; sons Stephen (Teresa) Stewart of Knoxville, TN and Greg Stewart of Fayetteville, TN; granddaughters Lindsey Marie (Corbin Trent) McMillen of Lenoir City, TN, Christina (Randy) MacDonald of Decatur, AL, Michelle Stewart of Decatur, AL, Hailee Stewart of New Hope, AL and Sandra Stewart of New Hope, AL; grandsons James Bradley (Jessica) Stewart of Knoxville, TN, Jamison Dickerson of Midland, TX, and Michael Stewart of Decatur, AL; and numerous great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Billy Sanders officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society, P.O. Box 37 Fayetteville, TN or Patches Place Cat Rescue, 4021 Belle Orchard Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
