Kelvin Dean Arnold, age 56, of Crete, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by his family after a long illness at Nothwestern Hospital in Dekalb, IL. He was born in Chicago Heights, IL on May 26, 1968, son of the late Robert Glendon Arnold & Lois Azile Oldfield Arnold. After graduating high school in 1986, Kelvin enlisted in the United States Army. He later pursued higher education at Eastern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology Manufacturing. Kelvin's professional career spanned various roles, including positions as a machinist and millwright at L.T.V. Steel, and most recently, as a locomotive mechanic at ArcelorMittal Steel Co. Outside of work, Kelvin was a skilled woodworker, crafting custom cabinetry for his home, building furniture, and creating thoughtful gifts for loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, David Arnold.

Mr. Arnold is survived by his sister: Brenda Klein (Richard) of Woodstock, IL; his brother: Bruce Arnold (Jennifer) of Colorado Springs, CO; nephews: Joseph Klein of Chicago, IL, Paul Klein of Woodstock, IL, Richard Klein of Chicago, IL, and Andrew Arnold of Aurora, CO; his aunt: Sue Sullivan of Ardmore, TN; his uncle: Jay Arnold of Elora, TN; and numerous cousins and many people that he called friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in New Market, Alabama. Visitation is Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
