It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce A. Johnson, age 84, born September 10, 1940. She passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with dementia.

Joyce was born on September 10, 1940 in Frankfort, IN to Paul and Lucille (Pruett) Pugsley. She married Larry Johnson on Valentine’s Day in 1959. Joyce was a graduate of Frankfort High School. She was a former Manager of a Safety Store at the Chrysler Corporation in Indiana before retiring with her husband in Fayetteville, TN. Prior to her illness she was an active church member and an avid puppeteer. She enjoyed working with children’s Sunday school and often taught her lessons with her puppets. She also loved to sing and was often a choir leader at church.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband Reverend Larry Johnson, children: Larry Johnson (Donna), Stacy Miller (Don), Christopher Johnson, sister: Sandra (Pugsley) Robertson, as well as four grandchildren: Tony, Natressa, Kristin and David and five great grandchildren: Jason, Angelina, Tony, Cody and Reece.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille Pugsley, and her brother, Terry L. Pugsley.

A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Harmony Hill Church of God, 3063 Huntsville Hwy., Fayetteville, TN 37334 with Rev. Don Hackney officiating.
