Mr. J. Phillip Halcomb passed away, at age 76, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by family, at Piedmont Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia.

Phillip was born on December 14, 1948, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Jonnie and Willie J. Halcomb. He was a 1967 graduate of Fayetteville Central High School and attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era as a Military Police. He then worked in the automotive industry for over forty years. Phillip was a passionate Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast and was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Moses Edward Halcomb II, grandson, Keith Halcomb, and sister, Sherri Halcomb. In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Halcomb.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Joe Pendergrass and Nancy Kimbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
