Helen Marie Rutledge Groce, age 80, of Huntsville, AL passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the home of her son, Jason Groce, where she resided. Mrs. Groce was born in Fayetteville, TN on April 20, 1944, to the late Alvis Aaron Rutledge, Jr. and Bernice Thomas Rutledge.

Mrs. Groce was a member of the Stateline Church of Christ. She worked as a federal civil servant for the U.S. Army as a secretary for 26 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Groce; sister-in-law, Rachel Janice Groce Logan and husband, James C.; and niece, Crystal Tanille Groce.

Mrs. Groce is survived by two sons, Tim Groce and wife, Bridget of Harrisburg, PA and Jason Groce of Huntsville, AL; and two step-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Cathy Perry of Harrisburg, PA. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Rutledge and wife, Fran of Bell Buckle, TN; brother-in-law, Dennis Groce and wife, Lisa of Fayetteville, TN; nephew, Wesley Rutledge of Bell Buckle, TN; two nieces, Jennifer Crabtree and husband, Danny of Fayetteville, TN, and Camille Allar and husband, Richard of Tullahoma, TN; two great-nieces, Alina and Olivia Allar of Tullahoma, TN; two great-nephews, Casey Allar and wife Britta of Tullahoma, TN and Logan Crabtree of Fayetteville, TN; and a host of great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Booneville Cemetery with David Mills officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.
