Dianne Lowery York, age 77, of Hazel Green, AL, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi on February 4th, 1947 to the late Howard R. and Sarah F. Lowery.

Mrs. York was one of the first to graduate with bachelor’s degree from her family. She became a registered nurse and worked in a variety of medical fields, including the emergency room, dialysis center, and intensive care unit. She loved getting to know her patients and providing them with comfort and excellent care. Mrs. York loved animals. From childhood she had horses and loved riding trails with friends. She and her husband owned horses, cattle, ostriches, emus, chickens, guineas, and, of course, numerous dogs and cats. Mrs. York had a big heart and faithfully donated to a number of charitable organizations throughout her life. She also never met a stranger and loved sharing with family and friends.

Mrs. York is survived by her husband of over 40 years, James York; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Sam Espy; her sister-in-law, Sherrie York; her step-grandchild, Eliza Espy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. York was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Daniel Lowery.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday September 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Pastor Benny Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Bevill’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
