Dawnette Louise Holman-Pugh, age 58, of Fayetteville, TN, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Houston, TX, on May 25, 1967, to David Ronald Holman and Helen Irene Humphreys.
In addition to her father and mother, survivors include her husband: Roy Augustus Pugh II; eleven children: Tricia (Johnny Lee) Cook, Sherry (John) Woodard, Cory (Nikki) Holman, Kerry (Angel) Hanak, Roy “PJ” (Alexas) Pugh, Celeste (Matt) Kelly, Jacob (Abby) Pugh, Joseph Pugh, Ashley Pugh, Terris Pugh, and Daylia “Lia” Pugh; twenty-eight grandchildren: Desiria, Marcus, Aleah, Isaiah, Alexis, Dylan, Devin, Zayne, Nathan, Braden Eakes, Kylie, Jaysa, Esmerelda, Mariah, Emily, Maliky, Bentley Eakes, Carson, Dominik, Gabriel, Zoey, Kayla, Elizabeth, Paisley, Jacqueline Maia, Beckham, Davy Mae, Hazel, Violet, Bryer, and Natalia; ten great-grandchildren: Alayah, Alison, Trevonte “TJ,” Taysun, Oliver, Lavinia, Brinley, Luca, Camden, and Taylin; three sisters: Susan, Debbie, and Kim; and four brothers: Chris, Bubba, Terry and Tommy.
Dawnette was a mother to all. She committed herself to raising her children with firm yet caring love, always with the goal of nurturing independent and capable adults. She extended that same love by intentionally creating a safe and welcoming home for children in her neighborhood and, alongside Roy, opened her home to foster children for 13 years. She was a steady homemaker, and the deep love between her and her husband of 33 years was evident to all who knew them. The home and life they built together were hard-earned and prayerfully achieved. They were truly each other’s rock. Dawnette’s devotion to Christ was woven throughout her life, guiding the cherished wisdom she shared with her friends and family. Her generosity extended far beyond finances — she gave her time, her love, and her very self to others, planting seeds of Christ’s love in many lives. As a child, she loved being active participating in Girl Scouts, gymnastics, roller-skating, and riding her bike through the mountains of California. After moving to Tennessee, she graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1985, where she met many lifelong friends. As an adult, she cherished the beach and waves, rock music, tulips, hot summer days, cruising and exploring with Roy, planning trips, and — more than anything else, her family. She was the matriarch of the family, the glue that held so many people and things together. Dawnette’s life was a powerful testament to the faithfulness of God and His grace toward His children. The ripple effects of her generosity, wisdom, care, godliness, and love will continue to impact the lives of her children, grandchildren, husband, family, and friends for years to come. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 1:00 p.m. at The Rock Fayetteville Campus, with Pastors Matt Tidmore and Don Gray officiating with Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Dawnette Louise Holman-Pugh.
