Brenda Gaye Smith Reavis, age 79, of Petersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Lincoln County, TN on October 3, 1946.

Brenda was known for her compassionate heart, giving nature and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren. She was known to many as Granny. Brenda was an excellent cook and fed so many people throughout her life. She enjoyed helping others and delivered many meals and baked goods over the years.

She is survived by her children, Joe Thomas (Shanna) Reavis, Julie Murdock; grandchildren, Landry (Spencer) Murdock, Jesse Reavis, Neyland Murdock, Ella Murdock; great grandson, Kelso Murdock; her sisters: Linda Thomas, Gail Welch, Barbara Simmons, Helen Smith (Tom Grubbs); sister-in-law, Dot Smith; many nieces and nephews, and was blessed with dear friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Steve F. Reavis; her parents, Joe B. & Elsie Smith, brother, Dawson Smith; brothers-in-law, David Welch, Lewis Simmons, Bill Thomas; and son-in-law, Timothy (Timbo) Murdock.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Unity Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening, June 12, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.
