Alma Yvonne (Buchanan) High, age 84, transitioned from this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at her residence. She was born on March 23, 1942, in Lincoln County, TN, to the late Walter & Dollie Dyer Buchanan. She was a cafeteria supervisor at Alabama A&M University and was a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Robert Lee High; sisters: Laura Knott, Lillian Wright and Betty Buchanan; and brothers: Walter Buchanan, Isiah Buchanan, Reverend Ernest Buchanan and Tommie Lee Buchanan.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Hanford) Gardner and Lisa (Chris) Lockett; sons: Bobby Fred Bean Jr. and Michael Shawn Bean; grandchildren: Jarquis Martin, Sequoya Bean, Jadaea Lockett, Elissea Bean, Aallayah Bean, Trey Bean and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren she didn’t get to see often, but loved very much.; great grandchildren: Jayce Martin, Jazlyn Martin and Jagger Martin, Ava Glenn and Aiden Glenn; brother: Waymon (Mary Ella) Buchanan; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Bass and Elsie Lee Buchanan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends that she loved dearly.
After the service, the family will continue in fellowship at Marvin’s. Friends and extended family are warmly invited to join as we reflect and share cherished memories. Please note that this gathering will be at your own expense.
Homegoing services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.
