The Memory Wall

Carolyn Ellis, wife

I shared a room at Donalson care center with Dexter for about two years. He could not speak due to a stroke, but he used hand signals and fist pumps to communicate. I will always fondly remember Dex standing in the doorway of our room greeting the staff and residents passing by with a stylish 'OK' sign. Trips to Wal-Mart were a special treat for him, as he would just love to ride the power carts provided by the store, often going off on his own, leading our group on a gleeful chase through the aisles! I will miss him.
